About the event
AcroYoga FUNdamentals at The Abbey in Cumberland
This 4-week intro series runs on four Mondays from 7-9pm:
Oct 16, 23, 30 & Nov 6
Have you ever seen people balancing on each other upside-down and thought "I want to do that!". Now's your chance to try this playful practice in a fun, safe environment.
Come alone or bring your friends! No experience required.
Flexibility is NOT required, and neither is previous acroyoga or yoga experience. Simply arrive open to connection and ready to play!
After this 4 week series you'll learn:
- the three main roles of AcroYoga: basing, flying & spotting
- partner and group warm-ups
- safe spotting techniques
- exercises for strength & flexibility
- tips for effective communication (especially when upside-down!)
- therapeutics & Thai massage techniques to wind down
You'll be challenged in the best ways, but you can always opt out of any exercises! Communication and consent are a huge part of acro!
This series will equip you with the foundations to play with solid technique and safety in mind so you can join our weekly jams with confidence!
What to bring:
- water and a yoga mat (no mat? let us know!)
- fitted clothes, no pockets (loose and flowy items can get tangled!)
- besides hair ties, leave the accessories and jewelry at home

🧘♀️Daiana has been practicing AcroYoga for over 13 years and got her certification with AcroYoga International in 2014. This practice woke up her inner child that explores connection with others from a trust, playful and joyful way. She has been sharing her passion all over the globe and at Comox Valley where she rooted herself since 2018.
🤸♂️Victor is a connected movement practitioner and therapeutics teacher fascinated by human connection through creativity, communication, play and touch. He was introduced to AcroYoga in 2016, and is influenced by his teacher training with VancityAcro in 2018, Movement Flow with Slava Goloubov in 2020 and teachers from AcroYoga Montréal and AcroYoga International.
To balance these solar practices, he's been deep diving into "Nuad Bo-Rarn", the Northern Style of ancient Thai massage. He's been fortunate to have taught workshops and retreats around the world including Sayulita, Tokyo, and Bali, but now calls Comox Valley home.
